Distraction.
So I was invited to go to a concert yesterday and I would say the overall experience was good - except for a distracting couple whom I shall call 'The Wiggles' who also attended the concert. For most of the concert they were dancing in the isle close to the stage, enjoying the music of CAKE and sincerely enthused about the band's music. I would have paid more attention to the band on stage if The Wiggles weren't so very distracting. From where I was sitting, all I could see were their back sides wiggling to the music - OFF BEAT - THE ENTIRE TIME.
I'm fine with people who can't dance and I think it's lovely that they feel so carefree and dance like they really don't care. What was distracting and disconcerting was that I was unable to tell the gender of one of The Wiggles. Let me explain, from the shadows I was able to see that this particular Wiggles had long blonde hair half tied back, slim built, tall, muscular arms, high cheekbones, Robin Hood leggings like black pants, and HIPS which swayed off beat to the music. My observations were all disconnected and I wasn't able to conclude the gender of this Wiggles (For those of you who know me, you know how this can drive me insane!) and I was dying of curiosity.
I didn't walk up to see because The Wiggles had moves that could seriously hurt someone. For a good 20 minutes, I stared intently at The Wiggles, hoping that the light would catch them and solve this mystery. Unfortunately, it wasn't my lucky night...UNTIL I saw a girl sitting a few rows down from me and had a perfect view of The Wiggles walking out (I assumed to the bathroom) and I followed.
I was in the bathroom, pretending to use the mirror and patiently waited. Not too long later, she came out and I initiated a conversation asking her about The Wiggles. You can't imagine my sense of relief when she confirmed that the Tall Wiggles was in fact male and that her and I share the same sentiment about the Tall Wiggles. The way he looked, dressed and danced caused some serious confusion with regard to his gender. After the nice lady answered my question, I happily returned to my seat and enjoyed the rest of the concert. It was a fun time!
